Welcome to the WAAC!

COVID-19 Vaccination Passport Information

On September 1st, the Ontario government announced the implementation of a “vaccine passport” system to help curb the COVID-19 virus. “To further protect Ontarians as the province continues to confront the Delta-driven fourth wave of the COVID-19, the government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, will require people to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of their vaccination status to access certain businesses and settings starting September 22, 2021. Requiring proof of vaccination in these settings reduces risk and is an important step to encourage every last eligible Ontarian to get their shot, which is critical to protecting the province’s hospital capacity, while also supporting businesses with the tools they need to keep customers safe, stay open and minimize disruptions.”

As a recreational facility, the WAAC will need to see proof of vaccination (2 doses + 14 days) from everyone entering the facility as of September 22nd. You can show the paper copy (a photo of the paper receipt is also acceptable) or the PDF email receipt you would have received when you got your shot, along with photo ID (driver’s license or health card) to verify your status. It is expected in October that an app will be available for those who have smartphones. If you do not have your vaccination receipt, you can call the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900.

You will only need to show your proof of vaccination once. The WAAC will not take a copy of your vaccination receipt but will record your status on your membership application. Only the Administrative Coordinator and the Board of Directors will have access to your status.

To facilitate the verification and prevent access to the building to those who have not provided proof of vaccination, starting on the 22nd, the WAAC doors will be locked. for admission, press the buzzer located on the front door centre frame to alert a representative and please be patient. Someone will be with you as soon as possible.  Please wear your mask and have your documentation at hand.

Please note that Sue’s Kitchen operates as a separate entity and Sue may have her own protocols that will need to be met in addition to those of the WAAC.

We are working on some updates to the website. What does this mean for you? Things will be getting moved around and consolidated to eventually make site navigation easier. But until we get everything lined up, you may wind up looking at a blank page when you click on a link. Not to worry! We will be adding the content to the right locations over the next little bit. In the meantime, you should still be able to find what you are looking for by using the “Search” button and entering a few key words.

We appreciate your patience!
