Seated Tai Chi Exercises

Today’s exercise video comes to us via David-Dorian Ross and walks us through a 15 minute Tai Chi exercise specifically designed to be done from a seated position. This allows those with mobility issues to participate in this relaxing, meditative martial art. It isn’t limited to those with mobility issues. Anyone can do this Tai Chi video. I have, and I love it!

Stretch and Strengthen with Meredith

Today’s exercise post is a 2-for-1 special! Below are two beginner level stretch and strengthen exercise videos with Meredith of Senior Fitness with Meredith. Why two? Because one video works on your feet and ankles while the other targets your wrists and hands. I personally feel a little lopsided if only the one set of joints gets a bit of a workout while the other gets nothing. Anyone else feel the same way? And when it comes to mobility, we want to ensure we are taking care of all of our extremities. Even though there are 2 videos this week, they have a total run time of under 40 minutes, making this a great workout routine.

Seated HIIT Workout with Meredith

In this exercise video Meredith will be guiding you through a great seated HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) style routine using optional weights for resistance. HIIT workouts are a great way to build up both your cardiovascular system and muscle strength. It combines the best of both worlds into a shorter, yet more intense workout that has great benefits when it comes to heart health.

Usually, HIIT style workouts consist of  “Time On” and “Time Off” periods where you work for a certain period and then rest for the other using a timer. This gets your heart rate up and keeps your body engaged. For this routine Meredith is also using a timer and will lead you through each movement which you can also use weights as options. For this routine since it is an “At Home” workout we will be using water bottles for weights.

This is an intermediate level workout so remember to only do movements that are comfortable for you and never force any movements that may cause you pain or discomfort. Always keep water close by and have a great workout!

Coordination Exercise with Steve Bottrill

Steve Bottrill is back with this awesome seated exercise. It’s a great workout that focuses on your coordination through using 2 opposing moves that work not just your body, but your mind too!

Intimidated by the thought of opposing moves? Don’t be! We use opposite movement all the time. Think of how you swim. One arm moving forward into the water, the other circling backwards at the same time before it moves forward for the next stroke. Steve applies opposing body mechanics principles into a great routine that you can do in under 20 minutes to help improve your coordination.
